Her latest single "Mercy, Mercy Me" is a slowed down, pared down cover of Marvin Gaye's classic anthem. Stripped of its original uptempo, fuller instrumentation her rendition narrows in on the underlying ache of the song (an appropriate mood for these climate-crises ridden times). Finding solace in a union of elements: a wandering voice, a cocoon of vocal harmonies, and the midnight mood of an accompanying saxophone. The music creates a meditation on earthly destruction that hopes for our reflection and connection.
